Safari

July 19th, 2010 by Michelle Tsonis

Hey friends. This entry will be really quick and I will add more later. Just so everyone knows, I survived my safari and I survived without electricity or toilets in the camp  sight. I saw pretty much every animal possible except for a leopard which are really rare to see. We saw lions, a rhino, cheetahs hunting, elephants, etc. We also saw a freshly killed zebra being guarded by the lioness that killed it. And another dead zebra being eaten by vultures. How nice.

We also went into a Masai village and into their cow dung houses. They performed warrior dances and songs for us and the women did a welcome song. Unfortunately, due to rain, we did not get the chance to participate in the drinking of cow blood that was going to occur after seeing the houses.

Stuff at the orphanage is good and I am painting the boy’s floor of the dormitories tomorrow! I’ll check my journal tonight and then come back and add more details about the trip. Only 3 more days! :( so depressing.
